Pre-Contract Examination for Insurance Agents (PCEIA)

Upon completing the PCEIA, candidates are expected to know about various concepts in insurance, life insurance and general insurance business operations and products; and ethical practices in insurance business.

Recommended For:
Anyone who intend to pursue a career as an insurance agent. The PCEIA exam is the pre-requisite qualification to apply as an insurance agent (life/general).

After passing this examination, the exam candidate will have to register himself/herself with the Persatuan Insurans Am Malaysia (PIAM) for general insurance and Life Insurance Association of  Malaysia (LIAM) for life insurance before he can transact any insurance business.

Candidate who have passed this exam may forward a copy of the result to the preferred agency manager of insurance company that he/she will be representing who will arrange for licensing with the respective associations.

Minimum Entry Requirement:
SPM/MCE with 5 passes inclusive Bahasa Malaysia subjects or other qualifications deemed equivalent or higher (must be academic based).

Exemption

MII Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL):
The Malaysian Insurance Institute (MII) allows application of exemption for PCEIA provided that the non-MII examination or qualification must match the learning outcomes of a current PCEIA route AB/AC examination syllabus, depending on the exemption applied for.

MII-CII Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL):
The Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) UK has extended their Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) for applications dated between 1 January 2021 – 31 December 2023 in the CII Insurance qualification framework for The Malaysian Insurance Institute (MII) professional qualification programmes.
